Two experts in language technologyLingenio and dp cooperate in translation softwareMunich / Heidelberg, May 2004. With its award-winning translation software, Lingenio will extend the portfolio of Munich-based language specialist digital publishing: the two leading experts in language technology have agreed on an extensive cooperation. Together, the partners will continue the development of the translation software formerly known under the name of "Personal Translator" and market it both on a national and on an international level. "Since both companies complement each other perfectly in terms of development capacities and thematic content, the reasons for a close cooperation are evident" says managing board member Peter Lackner, who is looking forward to the cooperation. Lingenio contributes to this partnership with the most successful translation technology developed in recent years, while digital publishing provides extensive market channels and vast experience in the field of language learning. "With digital publishing we have found a competent partner to help us successfully continue the development of our translation technology and bring it to market", says Dr. Hubert Lehmann, managing director of Lingenio GmbH, about the cooperation. LingenioThe software development company Lingenio GmbH, Heidelberg, was founded five years ago as a consequence of a management buyout by the former research team for translation technology in IBM's Scientific Center Heidelberg. Since then, Lingenio has successfully continued the development of the Personal Translator translation technology: the PT translation system and the "real-time automatic interpreter" have been awarded the renowned IST Prize for groundbreaking products in information technology as early as 1996 and 1998, and over the years, PT has become one of the most successful translation systems on the market. Eventually, Lingenio separated from its former distributor linguatec at the beginning of May 2004 and is now breaking new ground with digital publishing. digital publishingSince 1994, digital publishing has been developing custom-made language learning software for use in corporate language training as well as for private customers with a highly qualified team of language experts, teachers, designers and developers. Over the years, the company (according to c't magazine, a "language learning specialist") has grown into the leading provider of interactive language learning software in the German-speaking world. With a total of more than 3 million learners worldwide and a global presence in over 30 countries, dp is today one of the most successful European providers of digital language learning systems.
