Exchange of translation memories in TMX format

Translate uses translation memories (sentence archives) which are stored in a proprietory format.

For a few years now, a standard exchange format for translation memories has become available: TMX (Translation Memory eXchange). The TMX Converter utility supports conversion of translation memories from Translate's own format to TMX and vice versa. Thus translation memories from any programs which support TMX (e.g. Trados®) can be used in Translate. Likewise, translation memories created with Translate can be used in any translation memory systems which are able to import TMX format.
